Meet Mrs. Shavel

Welcome to Room 15! I love teaching first grade because I love to be silly with my students and to watch the amazing growth in my students each year.  This year will be "pawsitivitely"  fun as we learn and grow in first grade!

Work Experience

I am a 1st grade teacher at Sunset Valley Elementary school.  This is my 12th year in this position.  I previously taught 1 year in 3rd grade at Stewartsville and 8 years at Belle Vernon School district. 

Education

I am a graduate of Hempfield Area High School.  I then attended Bucknell University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and IUP with a Special Education degree. 

Personal Information

I live with my family in the Norwin School district and have 2 kids, Nick and Julia.  In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
